How to clear a blocked shower or sink drain

Tear, pour, done: empty the sachet into the drain, add warm water and let the effervescent foam expand through the pipework — dissolving hair, soap scum and organic build-up within the hour (leave overnight for heavy build-up).

Instructions

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Run warm water in the drain for 10 seconds

2. Tear open and pour the full sachet directly into the drain.

3. Leave for 45–60 minutes — it works within the hour — or overnight where possible for heavy build-up.

4. Rinse with warm water. 1 sachet = 1 drain.

  • Will it clear a fully blocked drain?

    For slow drains and organic build-up — hair, grease, soap scum and food waste — yes. For solid objects, tree roots or damaged pipes, no liquid treatment will help, so call a plumber. For a drain that has been building up, give DRAINZAP an hour, or leave it overnight for heavy build-up.

  • Is it safe for my pipes?

    Yes. DRAINZAP is a clean chemical formulation, not caustic. When activated with water it generates thick foam, coating pipework internals and dissolves greasy residues, hair, organic waste and destabilises biofilms. It won't corrode PVC, copper, brass, or stainless steel. Unlike chemical drain openers, you can use it as often as you need without damaging seals or pipe walls.

  • Is it septic safe?

    Yes — fully septic safe. It clears the same organic blockages caustic products target — without the hazard, or the damage to fittings and plumbing. Most chemical drain openers kill the bacteria that make your septic system work. DRAINZAP does not.

  • How often should I use it?

    For maintenance (preventing blockages or bad odours): once a month. For a slow drain: one dose and repeat when the problem arises again. For a bad blockage: one dose, leave overnight.

  • Will it get rid of the smell?

    Yes. Drain smells are primarily caused by organic buildup (fats, oils, grease, hair, food particles) and "biofilm" — a slimy layer of bacteria that grows on the pipe walls, which emits gases as it breaks down waste. DRAINZAP breaks down that build-up, so the smell is far less likely to return the next day the way it does after bleach.
